Last week, former England captain, Sky Sports broadcaster, and CKC President Nasser Hussain OBE launched our brand-new “Clubs in Need” Programme, an initiative designed to support struggling cricket clubs and create greater opportunities for young people.
Cricket is about more than just sport. Cricket clubs are at the heart of local communities, particularly in inner-city areas where additional support is often essential to keep the game thriving and encourage more young people to get involved.
This was the central theme behind the launch of CKC's “Clubs in Need” initiative, led by Nasser Hussain OBE, at Leyton County Cricket Ground.
Following the launch, an evening event was held where Nasser Hussain met with invited guests to discuss the new programme, the challenges facing local cricket clubs, and an incredible summer of cricket.
The Clubs in Need Programme aims to help rejuvenate cricket clubs that are facing challenges while strengthening their ability to engage with their local communities.
A key focus of the programme is supporting young cricketers as they make the important transition from soft-ball to hard-ball cricket. By helping clubs overcome barriers around coaching, outreach, volunteers, and parental support, CKC hopes to create stronger pathways for young players to continue developing their skills.
The programme reflects CKC's long-standing commitment to using cricket as a tool for youth development, community engagement, and positive social change.
Through Clubs in Need, CKC will work with cricket clubs to identify their specific challenges and provide tailored support to help them build stronger, more sustainable programmes for their communities.
